David Meltzer passed away on Friday. He was born on January 31, 1956 in Syracuse to Roz and Mort Meltzer. He graduated from Jamesville-Dewitt High School, and then the Culinary Institute of America. David worked in various restaurants in NYC, then for the past several decades he was associated with both the skating rink at Rockefeller Center, and the Wolman Rink in Central Park. He was an avid SU sports fan; a voracious reader, and a “Dead Head”.
He is survived by his wife Marianne; his brothers Eric (Brooke), and Howard (Brenda); his sisters-in-law Susan (Charles) Cassalia, and Carolyn (Ronald) Crotty; his nieces and nephews Emily, Carly, Isabel, Morgan, Kelsey, Tracy, Matthew, Ronald III, AJ; his great niece Gabrielle, and his aunt Joan Warshow, and uncle Sheldon Warshow.
Funeral services will be at 2PM on Thursday the 17 at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family immediately prior to the service from 1-2 at the Funeral Chapel, 3175 E. Genesee street. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Please note that the service will be live streamed on the Sisskind Funeral Service Facebook page beginning at 2PM on Thursday.

Marianne, I am so sorry for your loss. David was a big part of my life and the life at the rink . I am so glad that we stayed in touch throughout the past years . He was a great man he will be missed . Sending you all my love Barry
