Sheila Coelho, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully after a life filled with family, love, creativity, and adventure.
Sheila was born on April 30, 1941, in New Haven, Connecticut, to Sally and Edward Cole. She attended Hillhouse High School and later the University of Connecticut. After college, she lived briefly in New York City, where she taught.

Through a childhood friend, Sheila was introduced to Stephen Coelho, the love of her life. They married and shared nearly 60 wonderful years together. They moved to Syracuse, New York, where they raised their family. Together they opened and ran The Pizza King, and in the more recent years, The All-Night Eggplant, which has been a staple in Syracuse breakfast for over 5 decades.

Always curious and passionate about helping others, Sheila returned to school to earn her master’s degree in psychology and counseling. She loved her work and continued seeing clients well after her retirement.
Sheila had a zest for life and loved fashion, travel, and, perhaps most of all, shopping. She especially enjoyed exploring the shops of New York City and Europe. She was also incredibly creative and loved art, crafts, and finding new ways to express herself.

Above all, Sheila cherished her family. Her six grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took tremendous joy in watching them grow. She also leaves behind many devoted and dear friends, some of whom she had known and loved for many years. Their friendship and companionship were an important part of her life.

Sheila is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Stephen Coelho; her sons, Dean Coelho (Staci) and Rick Coelho; her brother, Barry Cole (Evelyn); and her six beloved grandchildren, Zoe, Kailey, Zachary, Noah, Alexander, and Benjamin.
She was predeceased by her parents, Sally and Edward Cole, and her beloved sister, Marilyn.
Sheila leaves behind a lifetime of beautiful memories and a family and circle of friends who will carry her love.

Please meet at 11:30 at the funeral chapel, 3175 E Genesee Street to meet the procession to the cemetery for the graveside funeral service at noon in Frumah Packard Cemetery. Shiva will be private.
