Stuart Irwin Schwartz passed away on July 20 with his children by his side. He was born in the Bronx on December 13, 1938 to the late Abraham and Ruth Schwartz. Stuart graduated from James Madison HS in 1956 and received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the City College of New York in 1961. He married the late Barbara R. Ostrow in Brooklyn on June 17, 1961. After 47 years of wedded bliss, Barbara died in June 0f 2008 from ovarian cancer.
Stuart’s career began with Sikorsky Aircraft (1961-1965) in West Haven, CT, then went on to General Electric starting in 1965 and retired from GE/Lockwood Martin in 1995 with positions in King of Prussia, Schenectady, and Utica. Stuart was an avid photographer and loved to play golf. He enjoyed travel mainly going to Aruba for 30 years, and taking cruises.
His family includes his children Kenneth Schwartz of Cohoes, and Debra Jones of Schenectady; his grandchildren Basia, Zachary and Jonah Schwartz, and Kayla Lipson. His brother Martin Schwartz passed away on July 4, 2025.
Funeral services will be at Temple Emanu-El of Utica on Wednesday July 23 at 11AM. Friends may visit with the family immediately prior to the service at the Temple from 10-11AM on Wednesday. Burial will be beside his beloved wife in the Temple Emanu-El cemetery. www.sisskindfuneralservice.com
