She grew up in the boroughs of NYC and later moved to Canandaigua where her father was a wine maker with the Canandaigua Wine Company. She graduated from Canandaigua High Scholl in 1951. She married Bert in 1956. She was very active and loved many sports, including golf, water skiing, and snow skiing. Gloria organized and played in many women’s golf tournaments while serving on the Board of Directors at the Seneca Falls Country Club and she also planned and organized many parties as social chairman. Gloria most especially loved travelling with Bert and her family to Myrtle Beach and out west for ski trips. Later in life, she loved vacationing in St. Thomas with Bert, playing bridge, and spending time with her close circle of friends. She belonged to the local Arts Council; she enjoyed painting with watercolors. Most of all, her biggest enjoyment came from spending time with family and making sure everyone was having fun!

I knew the family growing up in Seneca Falls and knew Gloria’s mother when I moved to Canandaigua. Cecil was my Godmother. Gloria was a warm person who impressed me as dedicating herself to family and community. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. As the proverb goes, she was the great woman behind the great man. To Gloria’s children and grandchildren-please accept my sincerest condolences. She really did have a blessed life.
