Phyllis Rand, 96, passed away early Saturday morning in Dover, NH where she had been a resident for the past several years. Born in Brooklyn to Max and Leah Braker on February 9, 1929, she had been a resident of Syracuse for 60 years before moving to Dover.

Phyllis was a homemaker, having raised five children. She also was the business manager of her husband Milton's optometric practice. She was an active member of Hadassah, having served in many leadership roles over the years. She loved to play Mah Jongg and continued playing right up until her death. She was a long time member of Temple Adath Yeshurun.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Dr. Milton, daughters Ellen Rand, and Deborah Umbro. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Berke, her sons Lawrence, and Steven, five grandchildren (Matthew, Jeffrey, Daniel, Nicole, and Lauren), two great grandchildren (Benjamin and Henry), and her brother David Braker.
