Edward Boyd "Bunky" Alderman

Edward Boyd “Bunky” Alderman of Fayetteville died in Syracuse on March 19, 2025 at 92 years of age. Ed was born in Syracuse on March 15, 1933 to Saul H. Alderman and Elivra (Mosheim) Alderman.

Ed graduated from Nottingham High School, Syracuse University and Syracuse University College of Law. He practiced law for more than 60 years in Syracuse with his father, Saul H. Alderman, his brother, Richard B. Alderman, his cousin Eric M. Alderman and his son, Steven B. Alderman. Ed was chairman of the New York State Bar Association Family Law Section, a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar association and the Onondaga Bar.

Ed was an avid skier, writer, gourmet cook, collector of antique art glass, teacher, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved to learn and spent much of his free time traveling, reading and exploring house sales. Ed enjoyed sharing his interest in Gilbert and Sullivan, bagpipes, and Scottish games. His kindness, generosity, and caring nature touched the lives of many. He was truly a remarkable man who made a difference in the world around him. Ed’s devotion to his family was unparalleled.

He was predeceased by his parents, Saul H. Alderman and Elvira (Mosheim) Alderman, his brother Robert B. Alderman, his sister Sandra Alderman Swartz and his ex-wife Judith Levy Alderman.
He is survived by his children Steven (Lori Saperstein), James (Pamela), Tracy (Karen Marshall), brother Richard (Maxene), two grandchildren, Julie Alderman Boudreau (Alex) and Samuel (Rachel), and two step-grandchildren Brian (Jess) and Kelly.

Contributions may be made to the Syracuse University College of Law or the Onondaga County Bar Foundation.

Services are Monday, March 24, 2025 at Sisskind Funeral Service, 3175 Genesee Street, Syracuse at 1:00 p.m. with calling hours from noon to 1:00 p.m The service will be live streamed on the Sisskind Funeral Service facebook page beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday www,sisskindfuneralservice.com

I'm so glad my life path crossed with Ed's - we were in writing classes together in the last few years- such a sense of humor, gentle spirit, caring human - You will be missed.
