Cathy B. Sarkin, 69, passed away on Wednesday evening at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. Born on September 24, 1955 in Syracuse to Bernard and Ros Sarkin she was a life resident of Syracuse. In her youth she worked in her family’s clothing store, Youth Town, in Shoppingtown. She was a graduate of Nottingham HS, and also attend Manlius Pebble Hill Academy.
She was a caregiver to young children for many years. Many families entrusted their children to her loving, nurturing care.
Cathy loved to cook, shop, and chat with her friends~ she earned her title “Chatty Cathy”. Gathering with friends and family especially the back rubs were her favorite times. Helping her friends with cleaning and laundry were done without hesitation.
Her family includes her partner Ricky Youngblood of more than 50 years; daughters Dorey (Tiege Williams) Youngblood, and Deanna Green; grandchildren Avery Edwards, D’Jore Edwards, Denaya Eudell, and Kristyna Murry.
Funeral services will be Sunday the 19th at Sisskind Funeral Chapel at 2PM. Friends may visit with the family immediately prior to the service at the Funeral Chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street from 1-2PM.

Cathy and I go back to when we were kids. We enjoyed spending time together. We were great buddies! We hung out at the John Milton pool club together. We also went to play miniature golf at Putt a Bitt and go to Howard Johnson's together. These places are where Wegman's is in Dewitt. I will plan to keep my beautiful memories in my heart. Cathy I will miss you! Randy Greenstein
