It grieves us profoundly to say that Linda Sue Ziegler Dubansky, RN, a nonpareil wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, died on November 17, 2023, tragically, unexpectedly, and unnecessarily from complications after a routine colonoscopy.
Linda has left us prematurely, but she has left for us memories and examples of a beautiful life that--while tragically shortened--is one to rejoice in and learn from.
Linda was born on July 26, 1949, in Youngstown, OH, to Dorothy and Jack Ziegler. Upon graduating from the University of Maryland School of Nursing, she took her first job as a pediatric nurse at the University of Maryland Hospital. In 1974, she accompanied her husband Steve to Denver, CO, where she worked in the Adolescent Pregnancy Center. In 1993, as Steve began his career as a pediatric cancer specialist in Syracuse, NY, Linda took the last, longest, and most rewarding position of her career as the school nurse at Mott Road Elementary School in Fayetteville, NY.
Linda loved spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors, and practicing yoga. She was creative and resourceful – endlessly planning new activities and adventures for her eleven beloved grandchildren. Linda was a paragon of kindness, and her loved ones will strive to emulate the sterling example she has set for them.
Linda is survived by her husband Steve; her four children Joshua (Emily) Dubansky, Rebecca (Matthew) Weinshall, Molly (Andrew) Friedson, Hanna (Gordon) Jaquith; grandchildren Emma Weinshall, Connor Weinshall, Carson Dubansky, Sam Weinshall, Arden Dubansky, Noah Friedson, Cole Weinshall, Zoe Friedson, Benjamin Jaquith, Ayla Jaquith, and Brooks Friedson; her sister Jaqueline Fizet; and her many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to City Blossoms, a nonprofit addressing inequitable access to safe, engaging, community-led green spaces and garden-based education for children across Washington, DC.

We are absolutely heartbroken to hear of Linda’s passing. We will always remember her kind disposition and her smiling face as she walked around the neighborhood. Harold and Peggy Bertram
