Marilyn Faye Richtand Lerman, 92 passed away peacefully in her home in
Jamesville, NY on August 11.

She was born in Buffalo, NY on February 8 1931.  She attended college at the
University of Buffalo & moved to Syracuse in 1952, a year after marrying
her beloved husband Fred. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage raising 5 children.

Marilyn was a homemaker, worked summers as a camp mother and in later years owned The “Penrose Gallery” in Nantucket, Mass. After Fred passed she worked in retail.

Marilyn had many passions including art, fashion, music, discussing family, history & current events. She was very active throughout her life enjoying swimming, skiing, biking and traveling.  She volunteered with The
Everson Museum,The Friends of Arts, Project Vote Smart and supported Art, Music and Higher Education.

She had a unique quality of engaging people into meaningful conversation which is why she made friends where ever she went. She enjoyed her faithful companions Chumley and then Simon whom she loved dearly.

Marilyn was predeceased by her husband Fred, three children; Howard, Kenneth and Nancy. Survived by her children; Stephen (Rebecca) and Caryn (Randy) and grandchildren Tyler (Erica), Josh, Alexis (Eric) and great grandchild Dax due in January, as well as a large extended family.

We invite friends and family to join us in honoring Marilyn's life on Thursday, August 24th at The Nottingham Clubhouse. Calling hours: 9:30AM-10:30AM,  Services begin at 10:30AM. Together, we will share stories, memories, and find solace in the joy that Marilyn exuberated.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Syracuse University to the Nathan and Sonia Richtand and Nancy Lerman Scholarship Fund: giving.syr.edu or: Syracuse University 640 Skytop Road, Room 240 Syracuse, NY 13244-5160. Contact a family member for further instructions

Marilyn will forever be remembered as a beacon of strength, convictions and a zest for life. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace.
