Donna Spector, the loving mother of two children, passed away on Tuesday May 12th, at the age of 66 as a result of complications of the Corona virus. Donna was born in Syracuse on February 28th 1954, and was the daughter of Daniel and Doris (Fenwick) Raasch. Donna transferred from Jamesville-Dewitt to Manlius Pebble Hill in 1970, however in her heart she remained a member of the JD class of 1972. After graduating, Donna then attended Davis Elkins College in West Virginia.
Donna was very active in the inner workings of her children’s education, becoming involved with several PTAs. She was also the driving force behind the founding of the West Genesee Educational Enrichment Fund, solidifying her role as a cherished thorn in the side of the WG administration.
Donna was a caring mother figure for many of David and Sarah’s friends while they were growing up, affectionately earning the nickname Momma D. Her motherly instincts weren’t limited strictly to humans as she deeply loved all living creatures. The happiest day of her life was when she realized her lifelong dream of swimming with dolphins. Her sobs of joy were heard miles away.
Continuing her passion for enriching her community and drawing on her experience as a self-professed Domestic Goddess, she worked for both Vera House and the NY Displaced Homemaker Program. Later in her life she was a beloved member of Christ Community Church of the Nazarene in Camillus, NY. Previously and possibly motivated by a desire to confuse everybody, she was an active member of Temple Adath Yeshurun including the Sisterhood of the Temple.
Donna is survived by her two children, David and Sarah Spector, both of Syracuse, and her brother Nick (Janet) Raasch.
Private graveside services and burial are in White Chapel, Dewitt. The service will be live streamed beginning at 11AM on Friday May 29 on the Sisskind Funeral Service Facebook Page.
Sisskind Funeral Service has arrangements.

David and Sarah: I am so sorry for your loss. I remember as very young kids how involved and loving your mom was. She would have gone to the end of the earth for you and I am sure she will be missed very dearly.

Sara and David, Even though I haven't seen Donna for a long time, I miss the times we had together. I know she was smiling hearing the wonderful words you both spoke at the funeral. She will be greatly missed!
