Hadassah Fendius

Hadassah Fendius, 91, died Tuesday at Menorah Park. Born on September 28, 1928 in Salt Lake City to Rabbi Chaim and Frumah Krash, she was raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming where her father was the orthodox Rabbi.

She moved to New York City to attend Colombia University where she earned her master’s degree in education. Hadassah then taught elementary education in the NYC schools for more than 40 years.

In 1986, upon retiring, she made aliyah and lived in Israel until returning to the US to help raise her grandchildren.

Hadassah was a proud and active member of Shaarei Torah Orthodox Congregation of Syracuse, a delighted recipient of the Shining Stars Award, and always in touch with world affairs.

Her family includes her daughter and son-in-law Miriam and Colin Elman; her grandchildren Benjamin, Rachel and Samuel; and her brothers Abraham (Joan) Krash, and Esomor (Ellie) Krash.

Hadassah will be buried in Eretz Hachaim Cemetery, Bet Shemesh, Israel this weekend. A service will be at 11AM on Thursday November 21 at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Shiva will be observed at Shaarei Torah Orthodox Congregation of Syracuse on Thursday from 6-7:30PM, and Friday from 11-12:30PM
