Sylvia Miriam Perres , 95, died Wednesday, December 26 in Chicago. She was born July 6, 1923 to Benjamin and Leah Shapiro in Poland. She and her family immigrated to NYC when she was 3 years old, Once married after WWII she and her husband Ike moved to Youngsville, NY, in the Catskills, where they owned a chicken farm. They retired to Chicago, spending winters in Florida. Sylvia was an active volunteer with Hadassah. Once her children were raised she went back to school to earn her GED; graduated from Sullivan County Community College and started a new career as a psychomatrician.

She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Isaac "Ike" Perres.
Sylvia was the devoted mother of Allen (Irma) Perres, Marci (Mark) Erlebacher and Lee (Marsha) Perres; cherished grandmother of Mark (Dawn) Perres, Adam Perres, Eric Erlebacher, Alec Erlebacher and Molly (Jason) Ropte; the loving Great-grandmother of Iris, Alex and Annabel; and her dear sister of Pearl Saunders.
Funeral services and burial were in Chicago. Shiva was observed in Chicago.
Contributions in Sylvia's memory may be made to the Jewish Community Center.
