Alice Kauffman, 68, passed away peacefully on December 20, at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach.
Alice was born in Brooklyn, NY and even though she spent 45 years in Syracuse she always considered New York City her true home. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and dogs. She was a dedicated volunteer for the Leukemia, Lymphoma Society and loved making blankets for rescue dogs. Alice enjoyed the simple things in life including daily trips to Wegman’s, shopping for her grandchildren, gardening, painting and design work. On trips to her Florida home she loved to collect shells, walk and ride her bicycle. Alice had a masters degree in Education from Syracuse University. Alice was very creative and enjoyed teaching pre-school for many years.
Alice is survived by her husband Michael of 45 years; their children David (Ana), Susan (Lawrence), and Daniel; grandchildren Sophie and Joshua; Rolo (her beloved Yorkie Poo); her brother Jay (Lauren), and her sister Marjorie (Robert). She was Predeceased by her parents Shirley and Simeon Rehr.
Funeral services will be promptly at noon on Sunday December 23 at Sisskind Funeral Chapel.
There will not be a calling hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Beth El Cemetery

Shiva will be observed at Michael and Alice’s home on Sunday and Monday.
