Irving Jacob Newman

Irving Jacob Newman, age 93 died on Monday, November 26th at Menorah Park, Syracuse, NY. He was the son of A. Lyons Newman and Mildred Stolusky Newman. A long time native of Syracuse, Irving lived in San Diego, CA for about thirty years where he enjoyed botany and collecting fire engine memorabilia. In addition, he was a member of SPAAMFA and a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite. Irving was a graduate of Northwestern University and a Navy veteran of World War II. In 2016, he was thrilled to be one of the participants in the Honor Flight Program from Syracuse, NY.
Irving is predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Levine Newman, one of the first female graduates of Syracuse University College of Law after World War II, his second wife, Ruthann Wiseman Newman, and stepson Richard Wiseman.
He is survived by his two children Sharon Newman Birnkrant (Steven), David Newman (Deborah), and three stepchildren Andrew Wiseman (Lucie), Wendy Wiseman Lawrence (Theodore) and Dana Wiseman (Amy). As well, Irving is survived by his beloved grandchildren Dashiell Birnkrant (Madeleine), Jacob Newman (Jessica), Daniel Newman, Elizabeth Labs, Alexander Labs, Amy Wiseman (Michael Baima), James Wiseman (Sarah Bernhardt), Lori Wiseman Van Orden (Matthew), Kate Wiseman, Diane Lawrence (Matthew Adams), Benjamin Wiseman, Shari Wiseman (Steve Simon), Richard Lawrence (Meredith Hickson), Jacob Wiseman, and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11AM on Tuesday, November 27 at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family immediately prior to the service from 10-11AM on Tuesday at the funeral chaple, 3175 E. Genesee Street. Private burial will be in Adath Yeshurun Cemetery
Contributions may be made to Menorah Park where Irving served on the Board of Directors and who provided him with care and love during his final days.
