Gloria Novak

Gloria Novak, 89, died peacefully at home early Tuesday morning in Lake Worth, FL.  Born October 23, 1928 to Harry and Dora Dropkin Kahn in Englewood, NJ, she had been a resident of Syracuse for most of her life until retiring to FL in 2000
Gloria was a music teacher, including stringed instruments and piano, first in White Plains, NY then in the Syracuse City School District from 1970 until retiring in 1984.
She was a member of Congregation Beth Sholom Chevra Shas, and Temple Beth Tikvah, Lake Worth FL
 
Gloria graduated Ithaca College with a bachelor and two masters degrees in music. It is also where she met her future husband, Sidney, to whom she was married for 45 years.
She was also an accomplished concert pianist. She spent her spare time volunteering for various organizations including Congregation Beth Sholom Chevra Shas, serving as Sisterhood President, Civic Morning Musicals, Hadassah, Syracuse Polish Womens Singers Alliance and more recently a board member of the Covered Bridge Homeowners Association of Lake Worth.
 
Gloria was pre deceased by her husband Sidney; her sisters-in-law
Claire Novak, Annie Mickelson, Diane Wallace, and Fannie Wallace; and her brothers-in-law Myer Novak, Arnold Mickelson, Sheldon Wallace and Harold Wallace.
 
Her family includes her sons, Mickey Novak, Perry(Kathleen) Novak,  Shelah Novak (Mike Barker), Harriet (Craig) Mead,
her grandchildren Adam (Mandy) Novak; Jack Rattray; Mary, John and Paul Novak; and great grandson Ozzy Novak
Funeral services will be at 11AM Friday, September 28 at Sisskind Funeral Chapel.  
Friends may visit with the family on Friday immediately prior to the service at the
chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street from 10-11AM 
Burial will be in the Beth Sholom section of Oakwood Cemetery.
Shiva will be observed Sunday September 30 at Harriet and Craigs home from 9AM to 1PM
Contributions in Gloria’s memory may be made to Congregation Beth Sholom Chevra Shas.

Sheila, Perry, and Mickey, My thoughts are with you today. Your mom is so proud of you all that she will always be a with you. The Novaks will always be important to me . My prayers are with you. Tom Muench
