Judi Torres, 72, died Thursday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Syracuse on July 6, 1946 to Martin and Hilda Diamond, she was a life resident of Syracuse. She graduated from Jamesville-Dewitt HS, received her BA degree in French from Syracuse University, and her Masters degree in French from the University of Buffalo. Judi taught French in the Buffalo school system for 4 years while supporting her husband Morris through dental school. In 1972 they returned to Syracuse where they raised their family and enjoyed a good life. Judi took time off from her professional career to raise their children; but returned to the work force once they were independent enough; and was an advertising sales representative for the Syracuse Jewish Observer. Her special skills with people inspired her to join Syracuse Jewish Family Service as a financial counselor to their many clients. Ultimately she became an independent financial counselor in the Syracuse area to many grateful families, regardless of their ability to pay for her service.
Judi will lovingly be remembered for her warmth, her infectious laugh, her generosity of spirit and her love for her family.
Her family includes her husband Morris of 49 years; their children Jason (Jennifer), Ben, and Jocelyn Wolff; her grandchildren Trevor, Derek, Eliza, Sydney, Talia, and Jonah; her sister Sheila (Harry) Mains; her sister-in-law Dora (David Lombardi) Torres; her mother-in-law Eva Torres; her nephew Devin (Stevi); and niece Rachael (Peter).
Funeral services will be at 11AM, Sunday August 26 at Sisskind Funeral Chapel. Friends may visit with the family immediately prior to the service on Sunday from 9:30-11 at the Funeral Chapel, 3175 E. Genesee Street. Burial will be in Frumah Packard Cemetery.
Shiva will be observed at Morris and Judi’s home Sunday evening from 7-9PM; and Monday from 2-4, and 7-9PM
Contributions in Judi’s memory may be made to Syracuse Jewish Family Service, or the Senior Meal Program at the Sam Pomeranz Jewish Community Center.

Ben, I’m so very sorry to hear about your mother. It’s an unbearably empty feeling to lose a parent - we think they will always be here for us to love. I’ll be thinking about you, and hoping you have only happy memories to look back on. Love and peace to you and your family, Barb
