Shirley Klein, 89, died Monday at St. Joseph’s hospital. Born in the Bronx, she had lived most of her life in the metropolitan NY area until moving to Syracuse more than 10 years ago to be closer to her son and daughter-in-law. Shirley had been the administrator of the Queensborough Hill Jewish Center for her entire professional career. Shirley will be lovingly remembered for her straightforward, honest approach to life, and her love for her family.
Shirley was pre-deceased by her husband Harold in 2003, and their son Dale in 1989.
Her family includes her sons and daughters-in-law Ira and Jeanne Klein, and Randy and Shirley Klein; her grandchildren Danielle (Brian) Chabot, Jacquelyn (Pete) Lingurovski, Dayle Klein, and Matthew (Jillian) Klein; her great-grandchildren Aiden, Ethan, Alaina and Dillon; and her sister Phyllis (Robert) Herzweig.
Funeral services will be graveside in Wellwood Cemetery on Long Island at 2PM on Wednesday, April 18. Contributions in lieu of flowers in Shirley’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. www.sisskindfuneralservice.com

I met Shirley when she moved into The Orchard in Fayetteville. She used to sit in the driveway in the sun and she would greet all who walked bye. Those of us who came by would get a chair from the garage and sit, talk but mostly I would laugh with her. She is fondly remembered by many in The Orchard.
